Abraham's family has now become a great nation, however they are displaced from the land God had promised them. The new Pharoah has forgotten Joseph and what he had done for Egypt and no longer welcomes the Hebrews. In fact, he persecutes them and enslaves them. This is the story of how God called Moses out of the wilderness of Midian to serve as a rescuer for his people. Later, God will use Moses to guide his people back to the Promised Land.

Open Class in Prayer Introducing the Story Ideas 1. Candle Light by TruewayKids Bring out a cake with a candle in it (or just the candle). Light the candle and watch as it melts. You could also make a small fire. Just make sure you and your child are safe and you follow all local safety laws. Ask your child what happens to the thing on fire. Explain to the child that the fire is consuming the candle or item because fire burns things. Explain that it would be a miracle if something did not burn up. 2. Partnering with God by TruewayKids Strongly tighten the lid of a jar filled with a treat. Ask the child to open it. When the child can’t do it in his own strength, offer to help. Put the child’s hand on top of yours as you open the jar together. Point out that even though the child couldn’t open the jar in his own strength, together you could succeed. Remind the child that God is very strong and there is nothing that He cannot do. Tell them that the things we can’t do on our own—such as loving our enemies or forgiving people who wrong us—are only possible with God to help us. 3. Lava Lamps Bring a lava lamp or make a homemade lava lamp. Introduce the idea of watching something "burn" but never disappear. Story: Remind the children why Abraham's family (known as the Hebrews) were now living in Egypt. Remind the children why Moses was now living in Midian. In this story, we learn about the unique way God calls Moses to partner with him to free his chosen people-the Israelites. We see someone who was uniquely called by God feel completely unqualified. He even makes excuses and begs God to choose someone else. Each time, God reminds Moses that he is with him and gives him unique powers and signs to prove that he is partnering with God--who can do all things! SHOW the power point Moses and the Burning Bush or read Exodus 3-4. EMPHASIZE that:
