When Jesus came to Earth, he performed miracles to prove that he was the Son of God. In this story, Jesus showed his power over the Earth. He demonstrated that he could control the weather.
Key Themes: 1. Jesus did miracles to convince us that He is the Son of the almighty God. 2. A miracle is a special act of God's power. 3. Jesus told his disciples to have faith instead of fear. Memory Verse
John 20:30, 31––“Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”

One or more children must go into the boat, while the other players tried to throw the pieces of paper into the boat area. It is the goal of the people in the boat to get the paper out as much as possible. Reflect on how the disciples would have tried to scoop the water out of the boat to stop it from sinking. (Truewaykids.com) 2. Make Waves (STEM): Fill a container of water. Try to find different objects which will create wind to blow over the water. For example, you could use a straw, a piece of cardboard to flap near to the water, or a fan. You could shake the container and drop things in it. Measure which things cause the biggest waves. Talk about how strong you blow affects how big the wave becomes. (Truewaykids.com) Story: Since the days of Abraham, God's people have been waiting for the Messiah--or "Anointed One." The Jews were expecting a mighty warrior king, like David. Jesus was so different from what they expected, many of the Jews didn't even recognize him. God knew it would be important for the His Son to be able to prove that he was the Son of God. He gave Jesus the power to perform miracles. What is a miracle? A miracle is not a magic trick. A miracle is a special act of God's power. -A miracle always had immediate and instant results. -They were always successful. -They were always performed to help someone or glorify God. What are some traditions or things that we usually do at a wedding? (ideas: bridesmaids catch the bouquet, ceremony, rings, kiss, cake, etc.) Allow the children to share experiences they had at weddings or what they know about a wedding. SAY: In Jesus's time, one of the traditions they had were that the bride and her friends would wait at her families home until the groom came to see her. When he finally came (which would sometimes take a while) the bride and her bridesmaids would go into the wedding. Jesus told a story about some bridesmaids who were not ready, and missed being invited in to the wedding! 3. Clay or Playdough: Provide air dry clay or playdough. He couldn't love them the way He wanted to. Most importantly, He couldn't live with them the way He wanted to. They were lost! Open Class in Prayer Introducing the Story Ideas: 1. Collect a few different types of seeds and seed packets and bring them to class. Compare the different types of seeds. Discuss the type of plant that will grow from each seed. Continue to point out that huge plants will grow from these very small seeds. You could also cut some fruit and look at the seeds inside (then eat the fruit, of course). Strawberries are a good example because the seeds are on the outside and they are very small compared to the fruit. Other interesting choices are bananas, cucumbers, passion fruit and more. You might also be able to show acorns that grow into huge trees. If there is a tree near the building where your class is, go and find some seeds. “Jesus once told a parable about a very small type of seed. Let’s listen to the story . . .” (from MissionBibleClass.org) 2. Leaf Rubbings Bring some different leaves, bark, and show the kids how to make leaf rubbings using paper and crayons. Open Class in Prayer Introducing the Story Ideas 1. Whiteboard Wipe Out from Trueway Kids. Supplies: Whiteboard, Expo Marker, Eraser Ask your child if they know what it means to forgive? Explain that to forgive someone is to wipe out the debt they owe or let go of the anger we feel toward them for doing something wrong. Using a whiteboard or a chalkboard, ask your child to name some bad actions that would need forgiveness. Make lots of marks on the board representing each sin. For example, stealing, disobeying, backtalk, etc. Share how sin marks our lives and we need Jesus to make us clean. Now, talk about a time that someone wronged your child. Perhaps a sibling took a toy, or a friend was unkind. Using a different color make a small line to represent the sin that someone committed against them. Ask who owes the greater debt. Wipe the board clean of the lines representing their sin. Explain that this is what God does when we ask Him to forgive our sins. Jesus died so that our debt could be wiped clean...(visit TruewayKids.org to keep reading) 2. Soap and Sin This experiment works well with a small group of kids. Fill a bowl with water. Tell children that the water is pure like God. Next, sprinkle pepper into the bowl. Tell children to pretend that the pepper is dirty like sin. At first sprinkle only a little pepper, but keep adding more until most of the water’s surface is covered. Put a dab of soap on your finger and talk about how God can clean sin out of people’s lives. Insert your soapy finger in the bowl, and watch how the pepper instantly moves away, leaving a clear ring of water around your finger. Story: Jesus wanted his followers to understand forgiveness, and how important it is to show mercy to one another. Jesus taught the people through stories called parables (or earthly stories with a heavenly meaning) to help his followers understand how they could please God in their attitude and heart towards wealth and possessions.
